OUR TEAM
Dr. Jody Barry, BSc, DVM
Dr. Barry became the sole owner of Best Friend's Animal Hospital in the fall of 2008. She graduated from the University of Alberta with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Agriculture in 1998 followed by Masters study in Animal Science. In 2007 she graduated from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. After graduation she practiced at a multi-doctor practice in Lethbridge before moving to Spruce Grove. Dr. Barry is a lifetime learner and has interest in every aspect of veterinary medicine, including working with exotic animals and pocket pets. She enjoys biking, kayaking, badminton, music and anything that includes spending time with her family and her dogs. |
Mindy Bushey, RVT
Mindy graduated from Lakeland College in 2010 and gained years of valuable experience working with companion animals and exotic pets before she joined Best Friend's Animal Hospital in October 2018. She enjoys reading, arts and crafts, and spending time with her many pets, including her two sphinx cats Calvin and Hobbes. |
Hilary, Client Care Representative / Veterinary Assistant
Hilary has always had a passion for animals, so she was excited to join the Best Friend's Animal Hospital Team in the fall of 2021. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, hiking with her dog Ruger, riding her horse Frog and playing with her new kitten Ravioli. |
Bird
Bird was brought to the clinic with a seriously injured leg in spring 2019. As she was unowned we decided to keep her and let her live her best life here at Best Friend's. Her past injury affects her walking but she climbs and flies really well and loves to visit with all the staff. She likes listening to the radio and sometimes will even sing and dance along to the music. |
Ruby (in memoriam)
Ruby was brought to us in December 2008 by a wonderful lady who found her hit by a car on the side of the road. Ruby had no identification but was such a sweet cat we decided to fix her up and keep her until we could find the owner. We performed surgery to remove her badly broken tail and over weeks of healing no one came forward to claim her. We've since named her 'Ruby' and promoted her to a permanent position of Clinic Cat. Ruby seems very happy to have found a new safe home but not every animal is as lucky as her. That is why we urge all pet owners to permanently identify their pets with a tattoo and/or microchip. A collar with identification is also recommended but remember these are often lost! Sadly Ruby passed away in May 2020. She is fondly remembered and her companionship is dearly missed. |
